The application essay, popularly termed as the Statement of Purpose or Personal Statement or SOP, is literally your voice.  You have a chance to speak of your future goals, the experiences that motivated you to choose this career, the factors that motivate you to pursue an international degree, the areas of research that interest you and how the education you are about to pursue will assist you and lead you towards that goal.

The Statement of Purpose or the SOP is an important tool in impressing upon the admissions committee the reason to select you over the thousands of other applicants. Essentially bear in mind that you are presenting a picture of yourself to individuals who will never meet you in person before admitting you.

Therefore, this step requires careful thought and your must use this chance to express yourself wisely.  Most Universities ask for only one essay as a part of the application package. If there are additional topics, they will be mentioned on the application form or the program website.
