The term 'Degrees' refers to the level of education that you have completed or wish to pursue at a given point in time. For example: Bachelor's / Associate / Master's / Ph.D. Thus the term degree denotes a stage that you have successfully completed or are going to complete in the course of your academic career.

There are various types of degrees that one could pursue.  Among these are the Bachelor’s Degrees, Master’s degree that have embodied in itself a particular amount of knowledge or skills that an individual at that level should have attained based on certain parameters.

The terms degree and major though closely inter-related mean two different things. For example students could pursue a Bachelor's degree with Computer Science as a major; or a Master's degree with Mechanical Engineering as their major. Both degree and major are used in conjunction with one another to give a complete and accurate picture of an individual's academic profile.

The term 'Majors' on the other hand is used in connection with the program of study, your concentration or the field of study that you wish to pursue at a particular college or university. For example: Computer Science/ Engineering / Fashion Designing are the courses you wish to major in. Thus the term major denotes an area or field in which you wish to develop your knowledge and skill-set.

The term major as defined earlier is the subject or the field that you want to gain an in-depth knowledge on.  Hence when you graduate with a Bachelor’s degree you will have gained knowledge on one particular field such as Computer Engineering or Psychology or Mathematics.
